Taranaki is the mountain who speaks to my heart

About Paritosho

The beautiful mountain Mt Taranaki in NZ, on the wild, wet, and windy West coast of the North Island, is my birthplace. All my life,
as early as I can remember, I was searching for answers to existential questions about life and have been on a quest to understand human nature and life on a deeper level. After I finished high school, I enrolled at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, to see if I could find answers there.

Whilst gaining some insights on an intellectual level and enjoying the arts scene there, my studies raised more questions and wonderings.

My spiritual journey

After completing my BA in English literature and psychology in 1979, I travelled overseas. In India, I found the remarkable spiritual Master Osho; mystic and friend to seekers. His scope of insight and vision about the human condition is vast and astounding. I am eternally grateful to be blessed with this connection which began back in 1981. My spiritual life and the practice of loving awareness is the foundation of my life and work.

Healing power of touch and flower essences

Thirty years ago, I began my journey as a holistic health practitioner. The deep wisdom of the body and mind connection had sparked my interest, so I began with learning massage at Nature Care College in 1994. It was a beautiful way to share with people through silence and the nurturing and profound connection of touch.

To enhance my massage practice, I wanted to find an accessible modality to work with the emotional aspect of health, which I found in the Australian Bush Flower Essences.  These are vibrational remedies that work with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspect of human nature.  They are very safe, gentle and effective for people of all ages and work beautifully for animals as well.

The Australian Bush Flower Essences answered a longing to find a healing modality that was accessible for all.  And to work with flowers and nature in the process – how wonderful!

How I found kinesiology

One of the most important principles of holistic healing is the empowerment of the clients and the understanding that each person is unique in their make-up. One size does not necessarily fit all.  A health issue led me to trying kinesiology with profound results.  I was so taken with kinesiology that I just knew I wanted to study it and felt I had found my new vocation.  One of the foundations of kinesiology is tapping into the innate intelligence of the body/mind which is unique for every person. Being able to “tailor make” a healing programme is just remarkable and honouring for the individual client.

Studying for several years with Parijat Wismer at Byron Kinesiology College, I attained my Diploma of Kinesiology Studies.  Following my passion for kinesiology, I attained an International Graduate Diploma in Kinesiopractics from the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practice, Auckland. In New Zealand this qualification is recognised as equivalent to a naturopathic degree.

I have taught at Byron Kinesiology College, and am a faculty member of the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practitioners.

I am a registered supervisor and mentor with the Australian Kinesiology Association.

At present, I am furthering my studies in Western Herbalism through Nature Care College in Sydney.

In 2023, my partner and I moved from Australia to NZ to be nearer family and to enjoy a new adventure.

In over 20 years, I have learnt and experienced the power of kinesiology and how muscle feedback accesses the neurology and energy systems of the body in such a holistic and integrated way and how powerfully and safely this can shift stuck and blocked areas of our lives.

If you are looking for holistic insight and understanding of some aspect of your life that is not flowing as well as you would like, and a healing modality that is also safe, gentle and effective yet profound – Kinesiology could be for you.
